Mein Name ist Molly und ich werde im November nach Österreich ziehen.
English speakers, don’t be afraid! Although one of my main goals in moving to Austria is to improve my German, this blog will be in English.
When I studied abroad in Northern Ireland for my junior year of college, I faithfully kept a blog to record my impressions of a different culture–the things I learned, the people I met, the places and things I saw. At least, that was the intention. It actually became much more than a mere record. It developed into a lens through which I was able to synthesize my experience, forcing me to analyze, compare, marvel, and communicate. My experience was richer because I wrote about it, and even richer because I shared that writing with a large community of friends through the internet.
So here I am, preparing to move to Krenglbach, a village in Upper Austria near Wels, about half an hour from Linz. I will be there from November 2013 to August 2014. I will live with a host family, working as an au pair to care for their one-year-old little girl, Anna Sophie. I will take German classes and integrate myself as much as possible into Austrian culture. I will also travel/adventure around Europe.
Here, I will tell you about it.
