Ten Things: London

This is the third in a series of entries, in which I list ten things I want to see or do in various European cities. These lists are not meant to be inclusive or ranked, just a sampling of things I am looking forward to! (All images click through to their sources.)

No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.”
— Samuel Johnson

London is my favorite city in the world (so far), so this list is a little more specialized than usual, comprised of things I haven’t managed to do yet, and things I miss and can’t wait to do again!

1. Westminster Abbey

Two years ago at Christmas, I attended a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral, and this year, I hope to do the same at Westminster!

2. Matilda: the Musical

It’s a musical based on the Roald Dahl book, about a little girl who loves to read books. Perfect.

3. Primark

I am so ready to return to my favorite discount clothing store at its enormous flagship location.

4. The National Art Library (at the Victoria and Albert Museum)

By appointment, you can go to this reading room and access the largest collection of original Victorian children’s literature and ephemera in the world.

5. The British Museum

Because you can never see everything here.

6. Camden Market

For a flea market/thrift store lover, this place is IT.

7. Houses of Parliament

I’ve never made it to this major London landmark. Such a slacker.

8. The Old Curiosity Shop

Love a good Victorian literary reference!

9. Kensington Gardens

I will be staying in a hostel just down the street from my main man, Peter Pan.

10. Jacket potato with beans and cheese.

I’ve missed you, old friend.
