On December 6th, I was lucky enough to be visited by St. Nikolaus here in Austria! Fortunately, he didn’t bring Krampus along. He did bring some treats, including my new favorite sweet–Manner Wafer (made in Vienna). It was so thoughtful of my host family to include me in this tradition. When Anna Sophie opened the front door and saw the little bags, you could see the awe and belief in her eyes. Of course, when an actual St. Nikolaus visited her playgroup later in the week, the expression was more akin to terror. Ah well.
It's autumn, and I've come to the last few months of my time in Europe. Looking forward to some short trips and the upcoming holiday season.
